Missions Blog

Today was our last full day in the DR, as we depart in the morning tomorrow. While a few people worked on setting up equipment in the sensory room, the remainder of us played outside with the kids and ran some sports and activities. When the teachers and kids looked out and saw us playing with parachutes, new bats and balls, water balloons, and more, the entire school came outside to play. It was a touching experience to play together with all these children of God. 

 

At lunch, we gave gifts to the kitchen staff and thanked them for providing lunches for us at the school each day. 

 

In the afternoon, we prepared the final touches for the sensory room. The finished room is shown below! Our team, along with the Kids Alive teachers, was thrilled to see the final result of 5 days of hard work to put it together. 

 

To finish our last day here, we had dinner at the local hotel with all the teachers and administration at the Kids Alive school in Jarabacoa. We were blessed to communicate with them and learn about their families and lives outside of teaching at the school. 

 

 

Overall, it was a bittersweet day. We look forward to coming home and sharing our experiences with you all, but we will greatly miss our new friends here. We are already looking forward to another trip with the Kids Alive next year.
