Panama Week Two: Thursday, 1/23

Posted by Team Leader on

Another full day at camp! Our team further organized the clothing donations for distributing to the kids tomorrow.  We are excited and also prepared for some chaos ;)

Fernando has a busy morning in the infirmary but said he had a slower day which is great news! More lifeguard duty and we got to talk a lot more today with the volunteers and counselors as our Spanish is improving throughout the week ;) Hearing their stories, praying for them, and talking with them.

Immediately after swimming we brought the second half of the campers through the craft- painting drawstring backpacks with a cross on it that they’ll all get to use tomorrow at the big carnival finale night.  The kids enjoyed getting creative with them! And it ran a lot smoother today after our first day Tuesday.  Praise the Lord!

Tonight after dinner, the kids gathered around a giant bonfire and did their dancing songs, etc and heard a message from the week’s speaker.  He has a true gift for sharing the Gospel with kids. He talked about what it means and looks like to accept God in your heart and he used his illusionist tricks to help illustrate. He emphasized the importance of reading the Bible every day- that it is Truth and He is our guide through Spirit and Truth.

Many kids stepped forward to dedicate their lives to Christ.

And after the fire the volunteers had time around the fire to share reflections from their week and things going on in their lives, and you could see the impact that this ministry has on so many lives.

Big reminder of the day- we never know what someone has lived through and experienced when we meet them- love God and love others, and get to know them!

Until tomorrow,

Fernando, Julie, Jon, Amy, and Brian
