Day One and Day Two from Panama

Posted by Team Leader on

Hola from Panama!

Day 1/Travel Day:

The Lord delivered us safely yesterday at 3:30 PM local time.  Santiago and Traci swept us away towards Chame as we finalized some final schedule adjustments for the week.  Due to our early arrival, we were able to see the boys before heading to bed at the camp.  It was a real blessing as in years past we typically have arrived too late to visit the children and we usually reach Chame around midnight or 1:00 AM.  Thank the Lord for safe travels, His perfect timing, and His children!

Day 2:

We began our day with our team devotion in 1st Peter chapter 5 where the Lord’s Word leads us to serve with humility and to be sober and vigilant against the enemy. Then we went to church with the boys from the transition home, followed by lunch afterwards.  Santiago led the church service with a powerful teaching from Nehemiah reminding us to be bold, consistent, trusting, and praying constantly as we walk with the Lord.  Ruben and Rafa led the church in worship!

We had a blessed time at the home this evening.  Prior to beginning our first devotion, we spent roughly an hour catching up with one another since last year’s trip.  Our devotion was “Becoming a Real Man, a Godly Man” based upon highlighted points from the book “Raising a Modern Day Knight”.  Praise the Lord for a two hour study with open dialog and excellent questions raised by the youth.  We closed in group prayer in both languages.  The evening ended with a family dinner at the transition home… all of us around one table.  Praise the Lord!

We continue to covet your prayers for the Lord’s timing and work throughout the remainder of the week.

In Christ,

The Panama Orphan Care Trip
