Day 3 - Panama Men's Work Trip 2017 - Getting to Work

Posted by Wes Hileman on

Clearing brush and painting fence, power washing old paint off of the basketball court, installing underground wire for lights around the soccer field, installing ceiling in new dormitories, and fixing equipment in the shop. It's a great privilege to be a part of helping this place grow!

We started early today at the camp. Mirko had a long list of projects for us. The 60 acre campus continues to improve every year. It has gone from an overgrown, undeveloped property in 1994, to a small camp with a multi-purpose building, 2 dormitories, and a swimming pool in 2001 (when the first campers were hosted), to the place, by God's grace, that it is today - with a covered basketball/gym area, soccer fields, housing for large groups, new sidewalks and walkways, and lots of other improvements. In this great facility, the Word Of Life Camp staff welcomed over 2000 people for fun and discipling this last camp season in January and February.

We'll continue the work tomorrow, and throw in pouring cement, as well. Busy, busy, busy. As men, it's great to be able to work with our hands and dig in to getting things done. It's also great to interact with and encourage the staff - although they're probably more of an encouragement to us than we are to them.

That's it for now - tomorrow is another day...

Nice piece, Wes. Keep up the good writing and information. And, good to see the work of your hands is blessing the camp. Keep 'on keeping 'on.
