Blessings Are Plentiful

Posted by Vonnie Teagarden on

I have to begin by saying that this blog will not be objective because there is too much emotion revolving around this day’s activities, teachings and encounters. Every hour spent at Faith House and with the girls and staff who reside there is full of blessings and positive encounters.

The day began with Glenn’s teaching on leadership. Although John Porcari’s personal presence was not there, his expertise and knowledge were felt throughout the presentation. The material that was developed for this presentation was so pertinent to the needs of the staff. They were very receptive and so appreciative of the interactive discussion, exercises, and information. We all learned that Glenn is an excellent teacher.

Following the presentation, we went on a quick shopping trip for items needed for future activities and presentations. We then had dinner at Faith House. The team decided that if we order the meals for the girls while we are in Thailand, we will have more time to spend with them in the evening. Meal preparation and clean up is one of their nightly chores. When we returned from shopping, the food had been delivered. So, after dinner we got right into activities. Jackie and Ashley played games and took all their pictures individually. They eagerly and patiently waited in line for their photo shoot. Each girl was presented with a devotional booklet that Ashley chose for them. We then had a fun girl activity. I taught them how to make a face masque out of coconut oil and baking soda and we then all had facials. Some of the girls didn’t stop with their face and also put the masque on their arms and legs.  I must say that the evening ended with a great deal of soft, radiant skin!

We finished the facials and needed to discuss proper attire for tomorrow. Maria said that she could lend us three Burmese long skirts. I won’t reveal who modeled these skirts. That will be left to the imagination!

The girl’s ended the evening with their nightly devotions, which included singing Christian music to a guitar accompaniment.   They sing like angels and their prayer is fervent and straight from the heart. What a perfect ending to an amazing day!                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Vonnie

It's great to hear about what's going on! We miss you all, and wish we were there. The pictures bring back such beautiful memories of our time with Maria and the girls last year! We'll continue to follow the blog each day. And we pray for your time there. May God bless every one at Faith House and keep everyone safe.

So touch by all the blogs - sitting here with tears in my eyes. Praying for you all. That village is haunting me praying for them. All I can think is that God's see them and will one day wipe all their tears away and they will be made whole. Your sister in Christ.
