The Best Parenting Book Ever Written!

Posted by Ron Moore on

I have discovered the best parenting book ever written—bar none. It is an educational resource written specifically for parents to teach their children at home. The writer well understood the importance of strong families and knew the absolute necessity for children to learn to think biblically.

The book is Proverbs—God’s inspired parenting manual tucked away in the Old Testament. Parents must master this book for themselves AND teach it to their children.

You cannot impart what you do not possess.

The book of Proverbs is committed to teaching godly wisdom and applying it to everyday living. The writer, King Solomon, prayerfully compiled the truths of the book, “weighing and studying and arranging many proverbs with great care” (Ecclesiastes 12:9).  He was careful to explain that true wisdom begins with God. Love and honor for him is the capstone of a life that counts. Solomon said, “Start with God—the first step of learning is bowing down to God” (Proverbs 1:7, The Message).

I will be preaching through the book of Proverbs over the coming weeks. We will be considering what it means to fear God, how to live with true humility, living a life of integrity, the importance of godly friendship and counsel, keeping our lives sexually pure, understanding the power of words, and considering the ingredients of a life mission.

  • I encourage you to engage in the teaching at one of our campuses, join us online, or watch the messages at biblechapel.org.
  • I encourage you to read through the Proverbs twice during this series—a chapter a day—with your family.

Lori and I can tell you from experience that the years of parenting young children go fast! Don’t waste a day. Begin now to instill biblical wisdom into their hearts. As you maneuver through the busyness of parenting, remember:

By wisdom a house is built,
and by understanding it is established;
by knowledge the rooms are filled
with all precious and pleasant riches.

                                    -Proverbs 24:3-4
