Thailand Spring 2019 trip - Day 3 at Faith House

Posted by Brenda Tenison on

What a fun day with the girls today! This morning was spent learning about beauty on the outside and beauty on the inside.  Lisa Anne Harmon was gracious to donate makeup from her business with Mary Kay to teach the girls about skin care and about makeup.  We talked about Psalm 145: 12, " My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord.  Let every creature praise His Holy Name forever and ever" while putting on lipstick.  We discussed Matthew 6:22, "The eye is the lamp of the body. So if you eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light" while putting on eye shadow.  The girls had an absolute blast!!

In the afternoon we discussed dangerous traits versus safe traits.  Dangerous traits include isolation, putting people down, never saying you are sorry, unpredictable mood changes, and someone who enforces rigid gender rules. Following along in our story with Princess Regina, we were able to talk to the girls about how to stay away from someone who displays these dangerous traits.  We also discussed how they are fearfully and wonderfully made.   (Psalm 139 :14) and what to do when they feel shame. We then did an activity with them to create a collage in their journal that answers the questions:

What are my strengths? What do I love to do? What are my dreams? What are my goals? What would I like to learn to do?

Please pray for safety as we are traveling tomorrow north into the upper part of Thailand and taking the girls on a "get away" trip to a hotel and boat for a few days.  Thank you for your prayers!
