New to SHBC

SHBC wants to help you to develop as a follower of Christ! For us, “development” is a process that begins when we are able to engage people into a deep, genuine relationship with Christ. We then want to equip them for maturity and employ them into service for Christ’s kingdom.

If you want to personally engage with God and others at SHBC, come visit us at Starting Point. Someone from our staff will be in our Welcome Center after each weekend service and would love the opportunity to meet you personally to see how SHBC can help you on your journey! In addition, you can sign up for our Spiritual Life Journal devotional email, delivered each morning. This is a great tool for daily Bible reading and prayer, designed to prepare you for the weekend worship services here at SHBC.

If you are ready to get equipped through connecting with others, check out our Essentials for Growth class. Here you will get a good spiritual foundation in a small group setting, as well as be introduced to our Adult Ministries connection groups. If you desire some knowledge and skills for your journey, we invite you to register for one of our Bible Institute classes.

Membership at SHBC

We’re glad you’re interested in learning more about membership at SHBC! Membership begins with registering for our Essentials for Growth class. This six-week course is designed to let you connect with others at SHBC, talk with ministry leaders, and ask and get answers to your questions. The course is required for membership, but taking it does not mean you must join the church. After the course is over, you will be given an opportunity to schedule a membership interview with one of the elders. In addition, we’ll celebrate the membership class with a New Member’s Celebration Dinner.

After you've attended an Essentials for Growth class, your personal testimony will need to be submitted to complete your membership. Classes are held for six weeks on Sundays from January 11-February 15 at 10:45 a.m. in Rooms 141-142. There are also classes on Wednesday evening; the first class runs from January 7-February 11 and the second class from March 18-April 29 (no class April 8). All Wednesday classes are held at 6:30 p.m. in Rooms 141-142, as part of our Bible Institute classes.
